There was a kiss just waiting to happen

This song just came on and man…it’s a tough one to hear. You know those lyrics that someone else wrote…someone you never met…those lyrics that feel like they had a window into your life, a tracker on your body (and most likely your cell phone…),  X-Ray vision into your home, strings tied directly to your heart and most of all, a mirror into your soul…the knowledge of an event or time or person in your life…whom you will never, ever, EVER be able to forget.

Ours was a beginning that truly was amazing and surprising  . . . And I am so, so, so, SO very sad that we had an ending that was so horrific  . . .  and shocking.

NOT my boyfriend, as you had feared Bob . . .

You were all done up, but it wasn’t for me
You were up at the front, tapping your feet
I was back at the bar; you had your eyes on the stage
I didn’t put money on it, but I was hoping that you would be here
If I was something that you ever wanted, I’m all ears
You made a wish at 11:11
I held your hips at 12:34
There was a kiss just waiting to happen
I knew you from the beginning
It was you from the beginning
Excuses disguised all the ones before
I’d be convincing myself they could be something more
If you go home and get on the phone
And tell your girlfriends about me
I’ll go home and sleep on my own
And dream of a girl named RiRi (yeah – not “Lonnie”)
I couldn’t hold a candle to you, but you were glowing in the dark
I was nervous just standing with you, you were glowing in the dark
You made a wish at 11:11
I held your hips at 12:34
And you weren’t even trying
You were a little bit shy then…
There’s no denying something so true.

At this point, Heather felt very successful – and justifiably so – at her fix-up . . .
